This is good news, hopefully we are looking at some of the first round OTs as well.

When all is said and done, it wouldnt shock me if the first two picks or at least of the first three werent OL's

i dont think we will go o-line first round or even second we should def go o-line second in my opinion but in the first at 9 there is no prospects that make me say wow so we should ethier

trade down and gather more picks or take the best defensive player available @ 9

I'd be fine with Danny Watkins on this team. Kid plays with a mean streak. We could use that.

I don't believe we would refuse an offensive lineman in the first round.

Iupati was one of our top 3 targets in the 1st last year.

Watkins is 26 years old.

I realize OL can be productive well into their 30s and you might be able to get 7 or 8 good years out of him but I still would drop him down a peg because of the advanced age.

And don't forget what I taught you with Newman, if you read me at the time. Playing in college at 24, 25 years old is a huge advantage physically and mentally. It makes guys look better than they really are. They tend to take a step back once they hit the pros and have other men on the field.

So that's a long way of saying I wouldn't draft Watkins in the first two rounds.

I never got the logic behind the 'Jerry loves the sexy picks in the first round'.

It took over a decade to get a damn WR selected that high. A RB too. We haven't taken a QB in the first round since Aikman.

You get no sexier than those positions.

File that one away with the we covet all the Arkansas players.

The average career of an NFL player is only like 5 or 6 years. We need Olinemen who are ready to replace the current starters and who are ready to play now. Danny Watkins is about as ready as a rookie Olinemen gets.

Key words being "NFL player"

Good OL can stick around well into their 30's if they stay in good shape and get lucky with the injury issue.

Point is, we can worry about the future of the line after we get a credible one going.

I don't have any regard for instant impact when evaluating draft prospects.

Less than none. I don't care about this year. I care about their entire career.

We can keep drafting Olinemen. In fact we should always be doing that.

We pretty much do keep drafting OL. We just can't pick the right ones and/or can't develop them when they get here.
