Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says he listens to talk radio “more than anyone” and that criticism hurts, but deep down, maybe he likes it.

“I think I love the pain,” he said in an interview with CBS News correspondent Jan Crawford broadcast Monday on “CBS This Morning.” “Certainly, criticism hurts, but it, boy – fuels your ambition. It makes me think, ‘I wanna show them.’ ”

Jones said he does hear the criticism for putting out a Cowboys team that has only one playoff victory in 17 seasons, and he chooses not block it out.

“No, no. As a matter of fact, I probably listen to more talk radio than anyone,” Jones said.

The interviewer replied, “Do you really? You hear it?”

Jones said, “I think I love the pain.”

Jones then told a story about how he didn’t mind a little pain in the doctor’s office after a “serious” loss one week.

“I was doing a lot of blood work, and they said, ‘We want to be sure and get this nurse in that really knows how to be gentle and get it done quickly on the first time,’ “ Jones said. “And I said, ‘This morning, I need one that needs to try 10 times. I want some pain.’ ”

The reporter asked, “Literally, this happened?”

Jones said, “That happened. And I need to cry a little bit. And so, that’s not a bad thing.”

Jones was asked if he considers making a change at general manager, the position he has held since buying the Cowboys in 1989.

Jones gave his stock answer.

“My experience has been the closer your top management is to the man that writes the check, or the man that is the financial backbone of the team, the better operation you have,” he said.

This is the reason I am no longer a Cowboys fan.

The owner himself cares more about his ego than providing a quality product for his fans.

Who doesn't like pain? I know I do. I'm about to run into the middle of the street and get hit by a car. Hopefully I break as many bones as possible.

Totally hopeless with this clown now.

He says this today, lets see if he is still crowing this shit after finishing 6-10 and being booed off the field by the 50k or so fans who actually do show up for the Philyl finale.

The Green Bay game will probably see half the stadium filled with puke green and yellow fans.

Total embarrassment of a franchise and a disgrace of an owner.

Somewhere, deep down, you know you're still a Cowboys fan.

Since when? There was George Steinbrenner and once upon a time a long, long, long time ago; Jerry Jones and Al Davis.

When I'm watching games and rooting for the other team to embarrass us, then its hard to say I'm a Cowboys fan.

The only player I even cheer for is Dez.

With the play of the NFC East this year, it harkens back to 2003 when we went 10-6 in a weak division and went to the playoffs. We may not even do that.

That's pretty sad.

Very true.

I'm not quite ready to give up the NFL yet (although I dislike what the game has become), but I can quit the Cowboys now.

This does it for me. I see a lot of fans talking about jumping ship and rooting for another team. I could never do that, but as a Cowboys fan I am going to actively root for them to lose every game they play. I want this fucker to have to answer for losses. Since the morons keeps filling the seats, the next hope we have is for them to lose their asses off. Eventually, even the "real fans" will have to stop buying the product, right?

You would think so. I read where merchandise sales are down 20% over the past two years. I expect them to really take a dive after this season, especially if we lose 10 or 11 games.

Fans are going to start telling Jerry off in public more and more. He can only have so many fans removed from the stadium. Oxnard fans are going to be telling him to f himself...the home fans, even theebs, will start the fire jerry chants at games...people are going to go off when they call in on his crappy weekly radio shows. He's about to feel the "pain" for sure whether he claims he likes it or not. Especially when goof grandson starts getting verbally attacked in public. It's coming.
