Though he wouldn't say Jason Garrett had final approval of roster decisions, Jerry Jones did explain back in January that there wouldn't be any player on the roster who the head coach didn't want to be there.
So Garrett might not be making the pick tomorrow night, but his voice will certainly be heard in the war room.
The Cowboys owner likes what Garrett brings to the selection process.
"Everything you know and I think have written and talked about Jason is alive in that draft room," Jones said. "Doesn't forget a thing and remembers everything, and will make very pointed inquiries as to something about a player. And I think all of that bodes well when you're sitting here giving input and evaluating talent. And he'll have a very significant influence relative to what player we end up with.
"But he will have done it more than any coach than I have seen. And that's not taking away from any of the coaches, but he just has such a respect for the process and gets the most out of the process. He works Tom (Ciskowski, scouting director), works those scouts to that information strong. I'm really impressed, really glad that he's on board and part of this decision making that we're going to be doing here beginning Thursday."
