Sitting down for an interview with "The Blitz" last week, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hinted that the Cowboys may be uniquely prepared to handle this season's circumstances because of the amount of veterans the team has.
Given the possibility that the lockout could end suddenly with a court ruling, Jones was asked how quickly the league, and the Cowboys, could mobilize to begin preparations for the 2011 season.
"We'll do whatever we need to do, and that says it," Jones said. "Whatever it takes, just tell me. If they're ready to go the next day, we'll figure out a way to get out there. And I'm not being unrealistic. We just should know that our players, are they conditioning, yes they are. Will they be conditioning? I have assurance - I know they will be. Will we be ready? Is our staff ready to immediately implement a gameplan?
"The Cowboys have a veteran team in a lot of ways. That'll pay off for us."
The team is expected to start only one rookie in 2011, first-round tackle Tyron Smith, and only one or two second-year players may be asked to start.
At most positions, the starters are either in the prime of their late 20s, or in their early 30s.
