Dallas Cowboys owner-general manager Jerry Jones indicated after Sunday's win over Washington that injured quarterback Tony Romo is not ready to return to practice.

Romo has been out since Oct. 25, when he incurred a collarbone injury during a loss to the New York Giants. Throughout Romo's absence, Jones had held out hope that he could return for the final two regular-season games.

The Cowboys on Tuesday will begin preparations for their next-to-last regular-season game: at Arizona on Christmas night. At this point, Jones said, the club does not expect him to return for that practice.

``Frankly, he's still having sensitivity there,'' Jones said. ``If he were healthy, he would play. We are a little behind where I thought we'd on how healthy he is.
``As I stand here, he's not ready to play.''

Jones added the replacement quarterback Jon Kitna is healthy and playing well, lessening the urgency for Romo to return. The Cowboys are 1-5 in Romo's starts and 4-4 in Kitna's starts.

``There's no decision if Romo is hurt,'' Jones said. ``The fact that Kitna is paying well, we've got to think about that as well.''

Jones said there is no plan at this point to put Romo on injured-reserve, freeing up a roster spot.

This is stupid to even consider playing Romo if he were healthy, Jerry is a dipshit.

Romo returning for the final 2 games would be stupid anyways. Kitna's earned the right to finish out the season. Playing Romo then is just foolish pride on romo's part.

Even dumber is keeping a roster spot tied up instead of moving a younger player up for some reps, even if it's on special teams.
