The Cowboys appear ready finalize the coaching staff as Joe Baker is expected to be hired as the club's assistant secondary coach.

Baker, 42, most recently supervised the linebackers under former Tampa Bay coach Raheem Morris, who was fired after the team finished the 2011 season with a 4-12 record.

Baker will work alongside Jerome Henderson, who replaced Dave Campo last month and will oversee the defensive backfield. Since secondary coach Brett Maxie left to take a position with the Tennessee Titans in January, the Cowboys have been searching for a candidate to help Henderson. They turned to Baker, a former receiver who was Cowboys coach Jason Garrett's teammate at Princeton.

Baker, who has worked for the Denver Broncos, St. Louis Rams, New Orleans Saints, and Jacksonville Jaguars in various capacities, supervised Tampa Bay's secondary in 2009 before he began presiding over the linebackers.
