Every week, Dallas Morning News columnist Jean-Jacques Taylor answers questions from fans as part of his newsletter. Here's a sneak peek at some of his questions from this week's newsletter, which gets sent out Wednesday.

Q: The Cowboys are not going anywhere this season. I believe they could use Tony Romo's spot by placing him on injured reserve. What do you think? -- Eddie Garcia

TAYLOR: I'd agree with you. There's no hope for the playoffs, so this is a lost season. But the Cowboys seem determined to use him again this season. It makes no sense to me, subjecting him to further injury risk by playing him at the end of the season. But it's their choice, and if he's medically cleared, he'll be playing in the last couple of games to the season.

Q: Why has Terence Newman become such a liability? Is he slowing down? He was excellent and is not old. -- Neill Kidd

TAYLOR: I don't think you can say he's a liability based on one bad play at the end of the Saints game. He's actually had a pretty good season, and he showed tremendous toughness playing with a rib injury earlier this season. That said, he's been a good player and, at times, really good, but he's never been the great player we thought he was going to become when the Cowboys drafted him.

Q: Is this experimenting with Garrett going to cost the Cowboys a shot at Bill Cowher? I don't know about you, but I am getting tired of Jerry Jones engaging in experiments and constantly bargain hunting. I would like to see the Cowboys reel in the biggest name out there for a head coach and bring in some premium free agents. -- Brent McCarthy

TAYLOR: Why do you label this an experiment? What was Jerry supposed to do? Once he decided to fire Wade, he didn't have much choice except to hire someone on staff. Garrett is the front-runner, right now, based on the job he's done the first three weeks, but let's see what happens. There's still a lot of football to be played.
