Jean-Jacques Taylor, columnist for SportsDayDFW.com and The Dallas Morning News, chatted with fans on Wednesday about a number of hot-button issues.

Here are some of the highlights:

Would you trade Tony Romo to Carolina to get Andrew Luck?

No. The Cowboys are trying to win right now. No rookie QB has ever won a Super Bowl. The window for this team as currently constructed is only going to be open for another 2-3 years max. Luck wouldn't help them win a title in that time frame. Romo is not the problem with this club. There are a lot of other issues before u get to Romo.

Do you think the Cowboys will give thought to moving Ratliff to DE?

That's an astute point. He'll probably wind up going to DE next season, where he should be a better player. He's been solid this year, but there have been too many games where he has been invisible. The Cowboys can use Josh Brent at NG, one of the rookies who has really done a nice job.

Do yo know Dom Capers contract status and could he come over as Dallas D coordinator if they add the Asst, HC tag to him?

I think Jason makes the call if he's the head coach because they have a good relationship. If not, then I think he asks Capers for a recommendation. If you can't get the man, then the man next to the man is often a good choice.

Will Tashard Choice get his chance play ball next season?

I think so because he's a lot better bargain than Barber. I don't think Barber will return next season, so Choice would be the obvious choice.

Ridiculous.

Luck's going to come into this league with an Elway/Peyton Manning-like grade from the scouting world. Sure, he could still bust and make you look bad, but I would never turn down that kind of QB prospect. Yes. I'd trade a handful of Romos for Luck.

This window nonsense needs to stop. Why is this "window" open another 2-3 years max? Are we planning on making bad free agent decisions and draft poorly?

Players have windows. Teams don't. Stack one good offseason after another consistently and you can contend on a yearly basis. The Eagles saw their window close with McNabb and Westbrook, only to have another one open with Vick and McCoy.

Ok, I may be mistaken but didn't Roethlisberger win the Super Bowl in his rookie year?

Did somebody from this messageboard ask the Jacque-strap this question?

No. He went on a helluva run winning something like his first 13 starts or some shit like that, but they came up short his rookie year.

I'm pretty sure he won it in year two.

I wonder which players he is talking about for this 2-3 year window?

Choice - 26
Jones - 23
Austin - 26
Dez - 22
Witten - 28
o-line - no one cares
QB - position in question
Spears/Olshansky/Ratliff - 27/28/29
Lee/Ware/James - 24/28/29
D-backs - Newman is the only one over 27

Anyone who is close to having only 2-3 years left (Brooking, Newman and the o-line) need to be replaced anyways. Is he worried Ware, Spears and Ratliff will only have 2-3 years left? I don't get it, we have a really young core of talent, especially on offense. Hell if we can keep Choice, Jones, Austin and Bryant healthy they should be all the skills players we need for the next 5+ years. TEs that can catch seem to be coming out of the woodwork so Witten is somewhat expendable, but if you look at what Tony G. is doing still we can expect Witten to be around as long as the rest of the guys.

I'm not saying to go after Luck because I like what we have with Romo, but don't pigeon-hole this team as one with only a few years left to win.
