In late December, when the Cowboys were in the final throes of a losing season, owner Jerry Jones indicated that personnel changes were on the horizon.

"I'd say it's very likely we'd have a lot more turnover this year than last year," Jones said back then.

But just more than a month later, Jones clarified that comment and said that any roster adjustments could be contingent upon the boundaries established by the new collective bargaining agreement that has yet to be negotiated. Because the labor landscape is expected to change after the current deal between the NFL Players Association and the league expires March 4, Jones said he will wait to act until he has better grasp of the details.

"We have a lot of ambiguity," he added. "I need to know what we're dealing with the [salary] cap. The cap is big here. I don't know whether we'll have one. I anticipate we'll have one. The good news is we don't have to make those decisions until we know."

But even if there are terms in the new deal that would promote movement, it's uncertain if Jones will overhaul a team that finished 6-10 this past season. While expressing disappointment in their performance, Jones implied that he was satisfied with the Cowboys' core players.

"We not only looked good on paper, we looked good to a lot of people around the league with
our personnel," he said. "When you don't win the ball games with talented players, it's the way they played."

Former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson, who is a FOX analyst, didn't disagree with that assessment.

"I think most people would say that they've got some talent," he said. "But their talent didn't always transfer to the field. They've got to get their better players playing as good as they can play."

Wow. This isn't good. He's overrating his roster again.

This team has needs up to their ears. From starters to depth. And this dipshat is talking about how good they looked on paper.
