Cowboys owner Jerry Jones spoke to KRLD-FM on Tuesday.
Some highlights:
On whether he would have preferred an early bye week or a later one: We saw this right when we got the schedule and knew that no matter how we were playing we would have this bye week. We looked at it as a week that we could really tweak things and sit down and make adjustments that we think we need to make and use it to evaluate where we were playing some guys, do all of those kinds of things and take advantage of this two week layoff. We've done that so it's a good thing. We needed it so that we could do that alone. We had some key guys that were nicked up a little bit that took advantage of it, but that should always be the case in a bye-week, you get to repair a little bit.
On what he personally does during a bye week: This time I did leave town over the weekend but I stayed in front of the television for the most part. We (him & his wife) basically watched all of the ball games, both Saturday and Sunday and then of course we were back here.
On what he'd like to see the Cowboys improve on against Tennessee: It's so easy to use that "M" word "mistakes"... After watching all of the games at one point or another last weekend, you are reminded of how every team makes a lot of mistakes whether it be penalties or assignment mistakes. You also are reminded to hang onto that ball, no turnovers. So I think those areas on both sides of the ball help us get those turnovers... It's easy to say but you want to be conscious of protecting the ball and conscious of getting the ball (stripping it) because it makes they make such a huge difference. There's just a consciousness about penalties that you want to try and work on.
