Cowboys owner Jerry Jones appeared Tuesday on KRLD-FM. Here are some highlights from the interview:
His philosophy on a change at the head coach position at midseason:
There's no philosophy to it. It's not like you play 80 or so ball games or 100 or so ball games. You don't have but a few ball games. Relatively speaking, we have 10 games left and I'm just not comfortable doing that. I've never done it. I think our best chance to win the next ball game, the very best chance, is to certainly keep as much continuity as we can, especially when we have the experience that we got. It sounds hollow. I understand it does. It's a natural thing to want to freshen up and do something different, but I'm not comfortable with doing that when it comes to the football team.
On any new information about the condition of Tony Romo:
No we don't. We didn't do anymore x-rays or MRIs last night. That's the first order of business today. We are sure that he has a fracture. So, the question will be whether we operate or whether we just let it mend on its own. They'll make that decision here this morning. Just on an impromptu basis we were given six-to-eight weeks in the estimates by the medical people and doctors. We'll leave it at that. He's committed. He's a quick healer. It's his left shoulder. He throws with his right hand, obviously. So, we'll see what all this means.
On the Cowboys staying healthy so far this season:
We've said that we are at least encouraged by our injury situation this year, especially coming off last year. We had the lowest games missed by veteran starters last year in the NFL. And that added to the disappointment because when you have that injury situation for the year it usually means that you can have some success. And this year we were moving along at a pretty good rate. This is certainly at as critical of a position, period, as you can imagine. So, all of that creates the obvious.
