Cowboys owner Jerry Jones watched the NFC Championship Game and came away coveting the 49ers’ linebackers.

San Francisco has a pair of linebackers in Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman that Jones is hoping his pair of linebackers, Bruce Carter and Sean Lee, could some day measure up to.

“We all watched Bowman and Willis out there, and boy, did those guys make a difference,” Jones said, via the Star Telegram. “This is my dream. It’s not exactly the prototype for the makeup of the two guys you’d want in the middle – you might want more of a thumper, a big guy, to go along with Sean Lee. But if we can keep both those guys out there, adjust our defense, we might be going toward Bowman and Willis area like they have in San Francisco.”

Those comments are the second time this week that Jones has expressed envy about one of the teams in the NFC Championship Game, having previously said he thinks Eli Manning is the biggest difference between the Giants and the Cowboys. Jones wasn’t trying to knock Tony Romo with that comparison, and he isn’t trying to knock Lee and Carter with his praise of Willis and Bowman. But he seems to view the two teams that advanced to the NFC Championship as having superior players to the Cowboys at some key positions.

Perhaps Jones should have a talk with the Cowboys’ general manager about that.

Jerry's such a groupie. He wanted to be like the Giants, then the Packers, now the Giants again. Now he wants 49er like linebackers. How about an Ed Reed like safety? Maybe a Pittsburgh like pass rush?

How about this? I wish we had a NFL like General Manager.

this is going to be one of the worst offseasons ever.

this moron is hated as much as I have ever seen and he is oblivious to it. If I knew everyone hated me like they do him I would be invisible and get out of the way and let the head coach do all the talking.

not this moron though, he is gonna figure it out if it kills him and everyone can go screw themselves in the process.

He's oblivious to the hate.

Nothing is his fault.

He thinks when fans cheer the Cowboys, they're cheering him.

My gosh, I wish he'd get boo'd everytime he made a public appearance.

It's like that other piece from Woody Jerry thinks he's a couple pieces away and if he wins all will be forgiven. So he'll just keep talking and selling only now I think he's starting to go senile and his conversations are just a mess. Yes Jerry, other teams have good players, too.

I'm surprised he didn't mention that the biggest difference between us and the 49ers was the head coach.

He just follows what's popular bc he's not good enough to set his own trends. Jimmy raped teams through trades and even started his own draft value system that's still used 20+ years later. That's called a fucking league innovator.

This clown just sits there and plays follow the leader and then does about 20% of the job even with prime examples from teams that are actually successful. Hello Dallas Raiders.

Jerry is doing what he is good at, selling you overpriced/overhyped/worthless shit. He has made billions brainwashing fans with his words and will continue to do so. Once the new season starts most will be predicting 12-4 records and a Super Bowl run. Look at this past season. Anyone with a working brain saw this team would have major issues with the offensive line. Even I, bought into the idea that a new defensive scheme could turn this pathetic defense around. Wait till after the draft...Jerry will have everyone eating out of his hand...again.

believe it or not, I have always been the same. I am not the homer many think. Nor am I whatever the opposite is.

we had a core worth getting behind for a number of years, they were good team oriented hard working guys. They just didnt get it done and that time is over.

I will root for those types of guys and believe in them pretty much always.

I don't even think the core was that great. There's something wrong if all the players you cut loose(and are still paying) never do a thing afterwards.

This new round of cuts certainly won't buck that trend

Don't have to look far (mark cuban) to see how a successful franchise can be run for years, and how an owner can still get tons of spotlight and credit for its success.

Why can't he just stop. :puke

I've been discussing this with a buddy for about a year and here's what I think we should do...

It's not a billboard, I don't think they work and don't want to see anyone wasting money.

It's not a boycott. If you want to buy your favorite teams' merchandise or your favorite player's jersey, you should.

With the way social media is now, I think unhappy Cowboy fans have a venue to voice their displeasure without booing the team, taking out your frustrations on the players. I think you should tweet #FireJerry every day. If someone wants to make a facebook page called "Fire Jerry" that would work too. Then, the next time we have a nationally televised game and the team is underperforming, the home fans need to start the Fire Jerry chant.

Could you imagine how many cameras will be on the Owner's box when the loud chant of Fire Jerry is overwhelming the stadium? How much the game analysts will talk about it? The talking heads on sports radio and ESPN that whole next week?

Jerry isn't going to sell the team, we know this. He has given into or at least cared about public perception before though. Drunk Jerry admitted that in the same video he was bashing Tim Tebow. He couldn't get the stadium built until he brought in a proven football guy (Parcells) and started winning games again. He would be embarrassed. He would be bombarded with questions about the chant, as would Garrett, and the players. I think this, or something like this, is our only chance outside of waiting around for his passing.

I know some will think it's cheesy but I think it's at least an effort to be heard.

Eh. That wouldn't work either. Philly and NY fans have screamed for D'antoni, Reid, and Coughlins heads at various points through these last couple seasons, and nothing has changed.

Dallas fans are so passive anyway. They're just friendly and chill. A few hardcore ones will show up frustrated. We have a lot of belligerent fatties like any other team too, but for the most part it's just a bunch of rich white yuppies.

Tough to incite anger in a group like that. Philly and NY have the type of fanbase needed for it, and even they have failed to get those guys fired. Reid has been there like 13 years now with little to show for it, and he's still not going anywhere.

I think he can easily be roofied. He does love him some alcohol.

So if that occurred, and then he was involved in a huge sex scandal with an underage girl, I think we'd be onto something big.

EDIT: not suggesting to do this personally; just presenting a scenario...
