Cowboys owner Jerry Jones consulted with two former employees before the NFL Draft -- Barry Switzer and Larry Lacewell. Switzer, who coached the team from 1994-1997, offered his opinion on Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murray while Lacewell, who had a 13-year run with the Cowboys from 1992-2004, gave his assessment of North Carolina linebacker Bruce Carter.

Carter was selected by the Cowboys with the 40th overall pick in the second round while Murray was taken with the 71st choice in the third round.

"We even called on Barry Switzer, who candidly is one of the best running back evaluators there has been and is, because he has seen so many and really studies them," Jones said. "So we had Barry weigh in on us in the draft room there tonight, but of course he really knew him well because DeMarco Murray is from up in Oklahoma."

Lacewell, meanwhile, endorsed Carter.

"Larry Lacewell is one of the best linebacker evaluators that there is," Jones said, "and he really got to weigh in good on Bruce Carter and did."

Switzer and Lacewell liking these players really gives me confidence in the players.

Future HOF'er Jerry is really taking advantage of all his resources.

Could you ask for anyone better to be in that War Room?

The conversation with Switzer probably went a little something like this.

*sips 6th glass of brandy* Jerry: "So, whattya thinkof DeMarco Murray?"

Barry, also sipping on some sizzurp: *BURP* "He's a good."
