The Cowboys open the 2012 season the same way they ended the 2011 season, against the Giants. Dallas tight end Jason Witten says his team has made the right moves this offseason to beat the Giants in Week One, and to do what the Giants did after beating the Cowboys in Week Seventeen last year: Win the Super Bowl.

“We’ve got the right type of guys that can lead us to have the same kind of success that we’ve seen the Giants have,” Witten said to DallasCowboys.com.

Finishing the season with a loss to the Giants is something that Witten says will motivate the Cowboys during the offseason and heading into the first game of the regular season.

“It seems like we’ve had that bad taste in our mouth a lot the last few years,” Witten said. “But I think the focus is on not just that bad taste, but what are we going to do about it? That’s the focus now: Let’s be all in and let’s get it right. Let’s take advantage of this opportunity we have.”

Witten said he thinks the Cowboys’ moves in free agency are enough to put them over the top.

“You see that schedule knowing we’re going to open up [in New York] against the defending champs . . . what else do you need to motivate yourself?” Witten said. “It’s time to do that. I think guys understand that. They’ve been around here and know to forget everything else and let’s go be our best and play great football.”

I love witten.

but I just wish none of these guys would even talk.....no matter what they say true or false....the morons at places like pro football talk which is the worst of the worst are waiting to twist it and pounce.

I wish everyone would take either the FU approach that barber had or the smile and give them nothing approach that romo and garrett have.....

If we start using our heads more - learning the plays on defense and getting rid of stupid penalties on both sides - we'll be a lot better.

Which means we need smarter players.

Exactly. Why this team likes dumb ass players with no drive to do anything besides cash a check is beyond me.

I dont think that is true at all.

I think saying we were simply not good enough is accurate but saying the team likes dumb players and nobody here works hard is really really overstating it.

We've committed the same stupid penalties for years now. The players we've surrounded our core with have been dumb and not motivated at all.

Every team commits the same penalties. The NFL has only so many...You just exacerbate it because we are a perennial 7 to 10 win team that isn't good enough to get over the hump.

Poor Jason. Smh.

I have a chance to win the lottery when I play, too.

But let's not count on it.
