Jason Garrett not thinking about his head coaching future as he prepares for Cowboys' final game

Jason Garrett's final audition for the Dallas Cowboys' head coaching job comes Sunday against Philadelphia. But he said he doesn't even think about that.

The Cowboys are 4-3 under under Garrett, who replaced Wade Phillips after their 1-7 start.

"I think I am at my best and I think we're at our best when we focus on the what's right in front of us," Garrett said Monday. "So what we needed to do today was to come in and process the last game and try to build on some of the good things that happened and correct some of the bad things and get ourselves ready to gameplan for the Eagles on offense and defense and the kicking game and get ready to have a great Wednesday morning.''

So how, exactly, does he manage to block out thoughts about his professional future?

"You've just got to go to work. It's just the way you do it. I think anybody in this game understands the importance of doing that. I had to do that as a player and as an assistant coach. And I certainly have to do it here. It's something that I think anybody who has been around it understands why it's so important to do that.

"There are great challenges in this league every day and we tell our guys all the time every time you break the huddle and put your hand on the ground there is a challenge waiting for you. So we certainly have to do that as coaches as well.''

I think no matter what happens in Dallas, Garrett will be a head coach somewhere in the league next year.
