Jason Garrett eliminating hazing from Cowboys camp

Brad Biggs, The National Football Post

Boys will be boys, but that doesn’t mean ’boys will be boys.

Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett has eliminated some of the rookie rituals – or hazing – during his first full season as head coach. That means no Roy Williams-Dez Bryant shoulders pad staredowns that became a story last summer.

“It's just something I believe in and we believe in as a staff," Garrett said, according to Tim MacMahon of the Dallas Morning News. "The young guys are part of our football team. They certainly need to get themselves acclimated in a lot of different ways, and our veteran players are in charge of welcoming them to the NFL in a real positive way.

"Also, there are some other things that go with that, but there's not going to be anything that's demeaning in any way that a rookie has to do. We just don't believe in that."

That’s also stopped the offensive linemen from giving rookie linemen crazy haircuts. So, no Ricky Vaughn cuts in camp. Per the report, some rookies have bought meals for veterans, but nothing approaching the huge $54,896 bill Bryant got saddled with last season.

"There are some things we won't do," Garrett said. "There are some other things that will still probably be in place. The more harmless things will still be in place."

I'm glad he did that. Last year I mentioned in a post that we could do without it.

Now the soon to be Great Head coach Jason Garrett eliminates it form TC.

Well... except for that little star on the helmet thing.

I didn't notice there was no stars on their helmet during TC did you?

I know it was mentioned they were going to do it.
Yeah there are a few videos theebs has posted that show some guys without the stars on their helmets.

Garrett has stated that the Star was something the rooks had to earn to wear.
