During his spring of discontent, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Patrick Crayton called himself ``a human insurance policy'' and said he expected to be traded or released at the end of training camp.
That moment is upon the Cowboys and Crayton, who play their final exhibition on Thursday night against Miami. Earlier in the week, Crayton said he was not worried about what the future held for him.
"I don't worry about things I can't control,'' Crayton said. "All I can do is keep preparing and be ready for whatever happens.''
Crayton spoke to KESN-FM on Thursday and wouldn't answer directly when asked if he expected to be a Cowboys receiver at the start of the season.
On the reports that the Cowboys are shopping him: "We're kind of in the dark. My agent and myself, my family and everything, we're going to see how it plays out."
On if he is content being the No. 4 receiver on the team: I definitely wouldn't be disruptive. That's not a problem at all. ... Content? no. I don't know anyone that's content, going into their seventh year, with being a No. 4 guy after you've been a starter in this league. That doesn't sit well with any vet or true competitor.
On how much he expects he will play against Miami Thursday night: Zero.
On if he is concerned with the Cowboys offense: Not really concerned. ... It's frustrating we never really go in sync well. But the concern has not hit us yet. ... We're moving the ball, but we get in the red zone and turnover and we've gotten field goals out of it. We're moving the ball, but we're not getting the (TDs) we need.
