The Garrett family has gathered in New Jersey this weekend.

They returned for the Jason Garrett Starfish Charities 14th annual football camp and leadership forum on Saturday at Princeton. They celebrated Jane Garrett’s 80th birthday with a Sunday party across the street from the family’s oceanside home. And, of course, they honored Jim Garrett on Father’s Day.

Jim suffered a stroke several years ago and rarely leaves the house but was scheduled to celebrate with his family.

Jane and Jim Garrett had eight children, including two who work for the Cowboys – Jason and Judd – and another who formerly worked at Valley Ranch – John. Jim spent 17 years as a scout in the Cowboys organization.

Jason Garrett became emotional when asked about his father last week.

“That’s a hard question for me to answer right now,” the Cowboys coach said before a long pause. “It’s very meaningful. It’s very meaningful to all of us. Football has been a big part of our lives, and certainly part of my life growing up and my brothers’ lives growing up. And my dad, probably more than anything else, instilled a passion for football in all of us and all the people that he came in contact with. So, it’s a special day.”

I still remember the old shit talking up Lowman. And it was primarily because he was a Jersey kid.

Just because the Garrett family lived football doesn't mean they were successful at it. Garrett's damn father was with the Saints in the 1970s. Uh...they pretty much sucked.

Same pattern as hiring a guy who went 0-16, or Kiffen who owns the records for worst defense in franchise history with both USC and the Cowboys. Jerry is attracted to other shit Midas type people.

Passion is great. But what happened to the football smarts?

I would settle for a passion for winning. Instead we get good guys who buy into something that doesn't progress into anything more complex and losses just mean that the team is getting better. Remember the plays that Sparano and Garrett had in that first year? Seems like reverse evolution. The offense went from surgical and deceptive to a dissociative identity disorder with its run and pass and a collection of four basic plays that change because of personnel groupings.

We seem to have had a passion for the Process but who knows on that anymore. Its more like a passion for spinning wheels and going no where.

I guess a gif doesnt load here

Amazing how quarterbacks affect things...

Seeing how many of you "fans" here hate him, I'm looking forward to the season even more.
