Five Dallas Cowboys were selected as starters for the Jan. 30 Pro Bowl: Tight end Jason Witten, center Andre Gurode, linebacker DeMarcus Ware, nose tackle Jay Ratliff and punter Mat McBriar.
This marks the 31st season in which the Cowboys have had five-or-more Pro Bowl selections.
Witten will be making his seventh consecutive Pro Bowl appearance, the most by a tight end and the sixth most overall in team history.
"It's a huge honor to be selected, and I'm very humbled by it,'' Witten said. "I have been fortunate enough to play in several Pro Bowls, but I am still humble because I know how many great players there are in this league. I was hoping for a better season for our team, but individually you try to be one of the best at your position. Going to the Pro Bowl is a great experience and an honor."
Gurode, who is making his fifth straight appearance, third overall as a starter, has been selected to more Pro Bowls than any other center in club history.
Ware was named as a starter for the fifth straight year, and Ratliff earned his third straight selection, second overall as a starter.
"It's an honor and privilege to be nominated to the Pro Bowl by the players, coaches and fans,'' Ware said. "I take pride in being consistent in what I do, and this is just a great honor. Obviously, we wanted to do better as a team, but this is a nice way to be recognized individually."
McBriar earned his second career Pro Bowl nod. His first was in 2006.
"It's an awesome feeling,'' McBriar said. "I was very happy when I got the call. It's extra special for me since I went to school there, and I get to catch up with some of the people I went to school with. The first time was a really neat experience, I'm going to make the most of it again."
