The next step in the courtroom contest between NFL owners and locked-out players is set for April 6 in the U.S. District Court in Minneapolis.
On that day, a preliminary hearing will be held on the players' request for an injunction against the owners' lockout. it should be noted the case has been assigned to Judge Susan Nelson rather than Senior Judge David Doty, who has often found in favor of players on collective-bargaining issues during the last 20 years.
If the players get the injunction, owners will have to consider establishing work conditions and starting up on the 2011 season. if the injunction is denied, the lockout will gain strength. No matter the decsion by Judge Nelson, an appeal by the losing side is expected.
