1. Chuck Howley - Dallas

RESUME

The only player ever selected a Super Bowl MVP off a losing team, in the 1971 game against Baltimore. Howley returned to the Super Bowl the following year and won.

SUPER BOWL HIGH POINT

Intercepted a Hall of Fame quarterback in each of his two appearances, Johnny Unitas in 1971 and Bob Griese in 1972. Shares the record for career interceptions with three.


2. Jack Lambert - Pittsburgh

RESUME

Made 27 tackles in four Super Bowl games, all Steelers victories. Also intercepted a pass and broke up another. Collected 13 tackles in two victories over Dallas.

SUPER BOWL HIGH POINT

Made 11 tackles in an offensive shootout in the 1980 game against the Rams, a 31-19 Pittsburgh victory. Also intercepted Vince Ferragamo that day.


3. Ken Norton - Dallas/San Francisco

RESUME

No team has won three consecutive Super Bowls — but a player has. Norton picked up Super Bowl rings with Dallas in the 1992 and '93 seasons and with San Francisco in 1994.

SUPER BOWL HIGH POINT

Made nine of his 24 career Super Bowl tackles in the 1993 game against Buffalo. Also broke up a pass and returned a fumble 9 yards for a touchdown.


4. Rod Martin - Oakland

RESUME

Started one Super Bowl for the Oakland Raiders and another for the Los Angeles Raiders in the 1980s. Not that the city mattered — the Raiders won both times.

SUPER BOWL HIGH POINT

Intercepted Ron Jaworski a record three times in the 1981 game against the Eagles . Raiders QB Jim Plunkett trumped him for the MVP award with three TD passes.


5. Ray Lewis - Baltimore

RESUME

NFL's Defensive Player of the Year on team that allowed fewest points and second-fewest yards in 2000. Joined Howley as the only LBs ever selected Super Bowl MVP.

SUPER BOWL HIGH POINT

Made five tackles and broke up four passes in only appearance as Baltimore held the Giants without an offensive touchdown in a 34-7 victory.
