SportsDayDFW.com writer Rick Gosselin chatted with fans on Thursday and answered questions about the Dallas Cowboys. Here are some highlights:
If Kyle Kosier and Leonard Davis are playing on the same level, wouldn't it make more salary cap sense to not resign Kyle Kosier and keep Leonard Davis because of his cap hit?
Right now there is no salary cap, so there are no salary cap hits. You can cut Leonard Davis tomorrow without taking a hit. At their ages -- both will be 33 next season -- I'd go to both and ask them to play for less in 2011. We're not talking about Larry Allen and Nate Newton here.
Has Tashard Choice finally earned some touches?
I'm not sure why the Cowboys have waited this long. Choice was the most complete of their three backs. But he lacked the one dynamic that the two guys ahead of him on the depth chart had -- power (Marion Barber) and speed (Felix Jones). Choice may not give the Cowboys the best chance for a big play, but he may give them the best chance of winning every Sunday.
I'm so tired of the debate about Tony Romo. Please, look how long it took Peyton Manning to start winning some playoff games and then the Super Bowl. The time is now for Romo, for sure, but we have every reason to believe he will take his team further then most QBs at this stage of his career.
Manning won his first playoff game at the age of 26 and his first Super Bowl at 29. Tony Romo turns 31 next season with one playoff victory to his credit. Bad comparison. I would agree with your last statement, though. Right now he's the Cowboys' best option. Until a better quarterback comes along, Tony Romo is the answer.
