Goodell suspended Pryor with approval of NFLPA
Posted by Mike Florio on August 18, 2011, 10:19 AM EDT
It’s still not clear how Commissioner Roger Goodell had the ability to suspend former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor for five games based on “decisions that undermine the integrity of the eligibility rules for the NFL Draft.”
The NFLPA appears to be on board with the penalty. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the NFLPA agreed with the intended approach.
(Efforts to contact NFLPA spokesman George Atallah have not yet been successful.)
It’s unknown whether Pryor will appeal. If the union already has concluded that a five-game suspension is appropriate, it’s hard to imagine the appeal having any chance of succeeding.
Either way, Pryor’s best play will be to lay low until after the supplemental draft. Then, if he’s drafted, he can decide whether to further stir things up by fighting the five-game suspension.
