EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw has a cracked bone in his foot, a source told ESPNNewYork.com on Thursday.

A source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that the injury is not considered serious and that Bradshaw "should play Sunday." However, Giants coach Tom Coughlin said that doctors will decide if surgery is needed at some point.

Bradshaw originally suffered the injury in the third quarter of the Giants' win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. He returned to the game in the fourth quarter. X-rays after the game showed no structural damage and Bradshaw believed it was nothing serious.

"I got a screw in my right fifth metatarsal two Februarys ago and I think the head of it is just aggravated right now," Bradshaw said after Sunday's game. "I think it will be fine."

In the past, Bradshaw has been able to play on Sundays despite missing practice time during the week due to foot injuries. The fifth-year running back developed a crack in the fifth metatarsal bone of each foot in 2009 but played through the pain to rush for 778 yards in 15 games. He had offseason surgery to put a screw in each foot, as well as to repair bone spurs from his right ankle.

He returned in 2010 and ran for a career-high 1,235 yards and eight touchdowns.

It is unclear if he can continue to play through this latest injury, which was first reported by the (Newark) Star-Ledger.

Coughlin will address reporters on Thursday afternoon to provide more information on Bradshaw's availability.

If Bradshaw can't play in Sunday's game against New England, embattled back Brandon Jacobs will get the start.

Jacobs was booed last Sunday at home after running for just 10 yards on four carries. He dropped a pass and fumbled early in the game against the Dolphins, just days after complaining in a magazine article about his role on the Giants.

On Tuesday, Jacobs said the boos didn't bother him. He also believes fans will see a new Jacobs for the rest of the season, starting with the New England game.

"You're going to see a change, man. You're going to see a change," Jacobs said.

The giants suck.

The cowboys just gave away the division Sunday night

I don't think they do, they can rush the passer and run the ball. That should be enough to carry them to the division win.

We are lousy, the redskins are dreadful and I think the eagles will still be up n down.

I don't think their running game is good. Bradshaw is at I think 4.0 ypc and Jacobs is at
3. Half their td's seem to be flukey tip balls. For us those turn into picks.

Should hAve lost to Arizona, looked horrible vs Miami at home, couldve lost to rams w/o SJax, lost to seattle. Beat eagles w/o Vick in the 4th. Cowboys are better.

But neither are as good as Philly. It's their division

its the giants division and if they get a few breaks here and there they could be the 2 seed.

Which puts are margin for error at basically 1 or 2 more losses to make the playoffs.

although the giants have had a problem in the second half of basically every season but one so anything is possible.

It's amazing how long Coughlin has been hanging around in NY. He was only a few short season ago from losing his job.

One of the most underrated coaches in history IMO

Anything is possible? Cowboys will be 1 game out in 7 days and they still play the giants twice. Along with Arizona ANd miami . Giants have sf, no, and gb coming up

They just beat new England at home without their two best offensive players.

They are going to whip the niners. No and gb are a different story but they will win in sf.

No big deal to out for a second week? He's a lesser back the rest of this year, even when/if he plays again.

Doesn't seem to matter to New York.

They've had a ridiculous amount of injuries, yet keep on truckin'.

They lost Terrell Thomas for the year. That one hurt. Then they lost some jags like hixon and goff

We've also been without a starting WR and corner in every game. Lost our rb. Our QB has been limited half the year. Sean lee has one arm. Their injuries are overblown
