Cowboys beat writer Brandon George answered questions in a live chat Wednesday. Here are some highlights.

Comment From Popper ... Do you believe the Cowboys will keep Spencer and Robinson?

Brandon George (Twitter: @dmn_george): Right now, I would say yes. The Cowboys will make an effort to either re-sign Spencer or use their franchise tag to secure his services for another year. However, if the price tag jumps too high on Spencer via free agency, the Cowboys will let him walk. The Cowboys want to re-sign Robinson and Robinson has said he wants to re-sign with the Cowboys. In the end, I believe they get something worked out.

Comment From Nick ... Do you think we will stock draft picks by trading down to see more players or will we stay put and pick best player available?

Brandon George (Twitter: @dmn_george): I believe the Cowboys stay put at No. 14 and take the best player available. They need an impact player and to trade down would lessen their chances of getting said player.

Comment From DFW Sports Guy ... I have but one solid reason for the Cowboys to draft DeCastro if he is available at 14 (other than his obvious skill set). And that is: Larry Allen. With Smith continuing to mature, I can just simply see the two of them on the left side of the OL for the next 8-10 years.

Brandon George (Twitter: @dmn_george): You're right about that duo being a force for years to come. If DeCastro is everything he's said to be, he and Tyron Smith could play side by side for many years to come. It's very possible that is the pick for the Cowboys considering how Jason Garrett likes smart, tough football players. DeCastro, from Stanford, fits that.

Comment From Clarence ... Do you think the JJ has learned his lessons about trying to reach for draft picks, i.e injured players, players with problems, trading down?

Brandon George (Twitter: @dmn_george): Hard to say that JJ has learned his lesson. You just never know about JJ. He's certainly a wildcard when it comes to the NFL draft. He drafted Bruce Carter last year out of North Carolina with his injury situation (coming off of major ACL surgery). So, you know JJ will take chances if he believes the pay-off is worth it.

Comment From Nick ... Will Terence Newman be a starting cornerback for the cowboys or will he become a nickel corner (i prefer). He lost his best asset in his closing speed?

Brandon George (Twitter: @dmn_george): Nick, I don't see Terence Newman on the roster come training camp. I believe the Cowboys plan to cut him. Listening to Jerry Jones talk about Newman during the Senior Bowl tells me that they're not happy with him and his time in Dallas is just about up.

If James gets released like many think will happen, then I believe we keep Spencer. Is it what I'd do? No.

I just doubt we would let Spencer walk and lose James and Brookings. That's a lot to fill in free agency and the draft.

James and Brooking are both free agents. They don't have to be "released". They just won't be re-signed.

Okay. My bad.

I doubt we let all three sign with other clubs. Spencer will probably be tagged and stays at least one more year.
