Bobby Williams meets with Jason Garrett
January, 11, 2011 Jan 114:41PM CTEmail Print Comments By Todd ArcherIRVING, Texas -- Could Bobby Williams be the man to replace Ray Sherman as the Cowboys’ wide receivers coach?

Williams met with coach Jason Garrett on Tuesday at Valley Ranch and if he joins the staff it would be a reunion for the two. Williams was the running backs coach in Miami from 2005-06 when Garrett was the quarterbacks coach under Nick Saban.

Williams has spent the last three years as the tight ends coach/special teams coordinator at Alabama under Saban. Williams’ ability to coach many positions would give Garrett some flexibility should his brother John, the tight ends coach, leave to become Miami’s offensive coordinator.

In 2004 Williams coached wide receivers at LSU (Dwayne Bowe was one of his pupils) and spent 2003 as Detroit’s wide receivers coach after he was the head coach at Michigan State from 2000-02.

Sherman was told last week he would not return to the Cowboys after a four-year run with the team.
