Led by team owner Jerry Jones, head coach Jason Garrett and scouting director Tom Ciskowski, a large Cowboys contingent of front office, coaching and scouting staff huddled together at Ladd-Peebles Stadium for the second day of Senior Bowl practice here in Mobile, Ala.

Jones met with reporters for a half-hour following Monday’s North team practice, discussing the Cowboys’ draft prospects and the current coaching staff, most notably new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.

Right now Garrett is tentatively expected to visit with reporters later this afternoon. Hired full-time on Jan. 6, Garrett has been busy on multiple fronts this month: evaluating the team’s individual and collective 2010 performance, constructing his coaching staff and beginning to scout college talent.

Garrett has at least three known assistant vacancies: wide receivers, defensive line and linebackers. Bruce Matthews (Texans) and Dan Campbell (Dolphins) also were candidates for a possible assistant offensive line coach position, but both reportedly are returning to their respective teams. Jones said Monday the team didn’t have a timetable for finalizing the staff.

Meanwhile, Senior Bowl practice is the on-field order of business. The North, coached by the Bengals’ staff, practiced this morning. The Bills-coached South team takes the field this afternoon.
