Wade Phillips said starting left guard Kyle Kosier (sprained right ankle/Achilles') isn't likely to play Sunday and neither is his backup, Montrae Holland (groin).

That leaves rookie free agent Phil Costa, who played center, left guard and right guard at Maryland, to make his first start.

"I go against great players in practice," said Costa, who played Monday night when Kosier and then Holland went out. "I played some very good players in the game on Monday night. Just kind of do what I’ve been told to do."

He's a player I'm rooting for. A pet cat, if you will. I think he'll have a role on this team for a while.

+1. I think with BETTER coaching, he could even be a starter for us AS A CENTER. He doesn't seem to be overly talented, but he appears to have smarts, heart, and drive--all that our current Center lacks.

Come on Costa. Prove em all wrong. Don't get Kitna killed. I won't be able to watch Checkdown Passes all season long if McGee comes in.
