Potential lockout could test Dez Bryant's devotion to his craft

SportsDay writer Gerry Fraley chatted with fans on Monday and answered questions about the Dallas Cowboys. Here are some highlights:

Why has Jerry Jones been so quiet about the Super Bowl debacle?

You have raised a very, very interesting question. Jerry Jones has gone underground, and that is very strange. He usually does not duck hard questions for more than two weeks, as has been the case here.
Has Jason Garrett told him to stay in the background? Is Jones devastated that his beloved stadium did not hold up well under scrutiny? Not sure what the answer is, but this is a very odd situation.

Jason Garrett was hanging out with Mike Krzyzewski and the Duke basketball program this weekend. What are your thoughts on this visit?

Was not aware of that and am not sure what the relationship is there. They are similar, from the head-coach-as-emperor school of thought. We've already seen some of that with Garrett muzzling assistant coaches. Or maybe Garrett just wanted tips from Krzyzewski on how to make commercials.

Is Alan Ball done as a Cowboy?

He’s done as a safety. The experiment did not work. Do not blame Ball. He did all he could. He was put in a difficult spot. Ball could help this team as a corner and special-teams player.

How is Dez Bryant's recovery coming along? Any concerns that he might not put in the extra work needed?

Britt Brown, the associate athletic trainer who handles most of the rehabs, will make sure Dez Bryant does the work. Players would rather practice than go through Brown's regimen. The situation changes with a lockout. Club employees, such as Brown, will not be allowed to work with rehabilitating players. If that situation arises, it will test Bryant's devotion to his craft.

A.The NFL has already taken the Cowboys off the hook, accepting full responsibility for the "debacle"

B.The 400 or so dissatisfied customers(and their lawyers)have already started litigation.I'm sure Jerry's advisors have told him to keep his big pie hole closed.

C.You can't control the weather.

D.Fox Broadcasting and Metroplex area businesses are pretty happy with the Super Bowl.It was an unmitigated success to them.
