Gerry Fraley chatted with fans on Monday and answered questions about the Dallas Cowboys. Here are some highlights:
I am not a Marion Barber fan at all. If he could really contribute at the level of his contract then that would be great, but he always seems to have a personality problem. What are your thoughts on him?
Marion Barber should be the first player shown the door. He is the rare running back with no elusiveness and minimal power. His main contribution is as a blocker. The excessive-celebration penalty that he took in the Arizona loss should have been the last straw. He's a team captain -- go figure that one -- and does a completely selfish act for which the team suffered. No excuse for that.
Why haven't the Cowboys gone ahead and released Barber? I'm sure we can replace his 350 yards in 13 games with someone less expensive and less annoying.
They seem to be waiting on all moves until a new basic agreement is set. No reason to do anything now.
I hear so many people who would like to see the Cowboys draft Mark Ingram with our 1st pick. I think we have too many other needs to even consider a running back. What is your take?
Agreed. This is supposed to be a deep draft for backs. Ingram is good, but he's not a light-it-up back along the lines of Adrian Peterson. The Cowboys can get a quality back in the second or third rounds.
Do you think the Cowboys will use free agency to plug up some holes?
They will have to use free agency. There are too many holes to rely on the draft or the rise of young players. For example, safety will require a free agent. It is a poor draft for safeties, and I'm not sure any of the young safeties are ready to take over as a starter.
