Fraley: Marion Barber could not duplicate Tashard Choice's TD run against Colts in a thousand years

SportsDayDFW.com writer Gerry Fraley chatted with fans on Monday and answered questions about the Dallas Cowboys. Here are some highlights:

Will Jerry sign Garrett before another team does? If Jerry didn't want Garrett as his head coach, he would have let him leave when he was interviewed by other teams, right?
Garrett's profile is rising around the league, and more than a few teams would be interested. Two factors work in Jones' favor here: 1. Really believe Garrett wants to be head coach of the Cowboys. 2. With the looming lockout, many teams that should make head coaching changes will hold off until the labor matter is settled.

Who else was injured from last night's game and how healthy are the Eagles?[Orlando] Scandrick (concussion) is the biggest concern. [Dez] Bryant (ankle), as you probably know, is finished for year. Not sure how [Terence] Newman keeps going. Every bit of his body is injured. Eagles have some OL nicks but should be in good health after layoff. They played four games in 18 days.

Will Tashard Choice finally replace Marion Barber for the rest of the year?He should but the powers that be have this bizarre affection for Barber. It cannot be because of his performance. Barber could not duplicate Choice's TD run yesterday in a thousand years.

Why not give Jason Garrett the job full time?
The Rooney Rule prevents that. Because Garrett's contract did not specify that he would be the next head coach, Jerry Jones must interview at least one minority candidate.

Why do the players put forth so much more effort for Jason Garrett? Did they not like playing for Wade Phillips deep down?
Players liked Wade because he treated them like men, but too many took advantage of his approach. As with a coaching change in any sport, going to Garrett represented a pendulum swing. He's more demanding. In turn, many players have realized their futures are at stake.

What chance do the Cowboys have to beat the Eagles? Also, wouldn't it be better to lose some games so we can get a higher draft pick and an easier schedule?
I'd advocate the losing-games approach, but not in this instance. The Eagles are a divisional foe. Cannot let them build a psychological advantage that will carry over into next year. Can they beat the Eagles? Maybe. Eagles laid an egg vs. Bears. Eagles will be well rested. Andy Reid gave them five days off after the win vs. Houston on Thursday.

I know the defensive backs we have now are the only options we have back there, but why aren't we correcting the errors of not covering the receivers or getting "burned" most of the time, especially on third downs?I think secondary has played better in recent games. In last four games, Cowboys have eight interceptions -- six by DBs - and seven TD passes allowed. Remember the quality of quarterbacks this team has faced in the stretch: Eli Manning , an underrated Shaun Hill , Drew Brees and Peyton Manning.

With Dez Bryant out, who steps in to fill that third wide receiver spot?
Chance for Kevin Ogletree to show what he is. He had a bad training camp but has been better recently on practice field. He needs to do something with this chance.

How much juice does Keith Brooking have left in the tank? Can Sean Lee rise to the level of play as a Brooking?
Lee is a Brooking in the making, and maybe better long term. Wade Phillips' decision to use Brooking on every play in early season games was a mistake. Brooking suffered from over-use. With Lee getting more time, Brooking is playing better because of the in-game breaks.
