SportsDay writer Gerry Fraley chatted with fans on Monday and answered questions about the Dallas Cowboys. Here are some highlights:

In your opinion, would Jason Garrett think about a drafting a QB in the first or second round?

Maybe second but not first. A second-round pick on a QB might even be a reach. If the Cowboys do take a QB, I would not be surprised to see them add Dalton or McElroy. Both fit what Garrett likes in a QB: smart and poised.

Are players happy the draft is still going on? Will the new draft picks get signing bonuses or not until there is an agreement?

Teams cannot sign draft picks during a lockout. Teams also cannot sign undrafted players. That could hurt a team such as the Cowboys. They have done good work in the undrafted free agent market. NFL players would like to see some sort of boycott of the draft. Perhaps the top players, who are paraded on the stage when selected, will stay away this year.

Does this lockout mean Jerry Jones can't cut Marion Barber or can he cut him anyway?

That's one of the questions that teams want to have answered. The NFL is formulating a policy. At this point, the guess is nothing can be done until the lockout ends. Teams are fearful of doing anything that can be tied into the anti-trust legislation.

Love the sensationalistic article title. If we draft a QB, we'll do so in the second. Followed by 'you know, taking a QB in the second would really be a reach."

lol

We have so many other problems and with the talent still to be had at other positions in the 2nd and 3rd rounds we have no business going after a QB.

That's short-sighted thinking. We need to be proactive. Romo isn't a pup anymore. He's only got few years left.

If a QB is the BPA, or close to it, in the 2nd or third round, we need to get the kid.

Thats if you think a QB at that point will be better than any other player available. I don't.

I don't like the QBs in this draft. Every one of them has bust potential.

This guy is suggesting Dalton or McElroy in the 2nd round.. I wouldn't touch them until the 4th.

If we're gonna reach on a QB then lets just use our first round pick on it and get a significant upgrade in talent over career backups like Dalton or McElroy.

Isn't that what I said?

You show me a QB that lacks bust potential, and I'll show you the #1 pick in the draft.

I like Dalton and McElroy, long-term, better than any of the potential first round guys.

You don't need to find a QB in the first round. They can be found, like any other position, anywhere in the draft. Some just need time to develop and proper coaching.

Would I want Dalton or McElroy starting on my team this year or next? Not a chance. Do I think they'll be good starters in the league in three or four years, without question.

And I said, that I don't. So uh...

Maybe I should reword that... The QBs in this draft have more bust potential than they have the potential to succeed, IMO.

I take it back about "every one of them"... I like Gabbert. Just not where he's gonna end up going. Which is looking like potentially number 1.

Dalton or McElroy will never be better than Gabbert.

But I do, and since it's widely acknowledged that I'm stronger, taller, faster, better looking, and more intelligent than you, we'll assume my opinion is the correct one.

I don't think Gabbert will be worth a shat. I know McElroy will at least be a serviceable back up for 10 years. I'm pretty certain that if Dalton gets to the right system and can develop for a year or so, he'll end up a quality starter.

In other words, you're wrong again.

I have a hard time evaluating QBs but I tend to agree with you. There really isn't one in this class that I would want to invest a 1st or 2nd round pick on.

But getting McGee's replacement in rounds 3-7 isn't a terrible idea.

First off, we both know I'm better looking.. Hence the reason I'm still in the game and you're wifed up.

Second, set up a date and we'll compete in combine-like events. You don't have a chance, old man.

There's no doubt about it... McGee needs replaced. I wouldn't mind Pat Devlin in the 4th if he was still available.

I could see him being groomed into something 3-4 years from now.
