New Dallas Cowboys' defensive coordinator Rob Ryan wants to bring some of his Cleveland players to town, if he so chooses.
The Browns today released inside linebackers Eric Barton and David Bowens and linemen Kenyon Coleman and Shaun Rogers. They combined to start 31 games for the Ryan-directed defense this season.
It would be surprising if any of these players show up with the Cowboys. All four are more than 31 years old, and none distinguished himself this season.
Rogers, the 350-pound nose tackle from Texas, is the most distinguished member of the group. He is a three-time Pro Bowler but played poorly this season and also had legal problems after being arrested at Cleveland's Hopkins International Airport for trying to carry a loaded handgun through security. Rogers avoided a felony charge by forfeting the gun, performing community service and participating in a gun-education class.
Rogers started only one game this season. He completed three years of a six-year, $42-million contract.
