Former Jacksonville Jaguar receiver Ernest Wilford was arrested on charges of Resisting Arrest without Violence and Trespassing Friday morning according to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post. The free agent, who was cut by the Jaguars in 2010, is currently free on bail.
According to Jacksonville television station NewsJax4, Wilford allegedly "inappropriately touched" two women in a Jacksonville bar and would not leave when asked to do so. After Wilford allegedly pushed a police officer in the chest, he was tasered once. When the former NFL player wasn't subdued, he was shocked with a contact stun gun that allowed them to handcuff him. The police report states Wilford smelled strongly of alcohol and could not stand up straight.
Wilford was a 4th round draft pick of the Jaquars in 2004 out of Virginia Tech. He initially spent four years with the Jaguars and then signed a four-year, $13 million deal with the Miami Dolphins in February 2008. The Dolphins converted him to tight end but cut him in early 2009. He was with the Jaguars again for 2009 and appeared in two games in 2010 before being released.
Wilford is currently unemployed and this arrest certainly won't help matters.
