Rob Ryan, expected to be announced as the Cowboys' new defensive coordinator any time now, reported to Valley Ranch on Wednesday.

Wearing jeans and a pullover sweatshirt and carrying a leather brief case, the former Browns and Raiders defensive coordinator was greeted by head coach Jason Garrett after being dropped off at the front door of the complex.

Ryan first interviewed for the Cowboys' opening on Friday, and supposedly agreed to terms at some point early in the weekend. He spent the early part of this week driving from Cleveland with his family, and would seem likely to finalize his hiring today.

Ryan has spent part of the time since deciding to take the job attempting to put together a defensive staff, which could be announced at the same time his hiring is made official by the club.

Rob Ryan arrives at Valley Ranch for work, though no note of his hiring

DAVID MOORE / The Dallas Morning News

No announcement has come from the Cowboys that Rob Ryan is the team's defensive coordinator.

That hasn't stopped him from doing his job.

Ryan is at Valley Ranch this morning. His day so far has been spent in the team's coaching offices, interacting with the other assistants. He's certainly conducting himself like he's part of the staff.

The lack of an announcement should not spark speculation that something has gone wrong. There is no indication that this is a repeat of the impending Dan Reeves hire that unraveled two years ago.

Will there be an announcement today? Tomorrow? No one is saying. There is some thought head coach Jason Garrett would like to get his complete staff in place before the club makes any announcements.

The fact Ryan is at Valley Ranch today is more telling than any announcement.

Jerry wanted to tell him they were going in another direction in person.

Honorable thing to do.

Jerry has to tell Campo that he is no longer the Secondary coach but he is still allowed to come by on Saturdays and clean the Jones' family pool.

Even with the report that he drove down to Dallas with the fam in tow, I'm still reading fans questioning if it's going to happen.

I actually read one guy saying, and he was serious, the reason there's such a long delay is that the Cowboys are ashamed of hiring a Ryan. That they might yet change their mind.

Naw, Ryan is down to personally tell Campo and others to get the hell out.

And that Campo has to clean HIS pool now too. hehe

Perfect scenario;Ryan walks into Jones' office, and JJ tells him,"Ha,I was never going to hire you,you greasy tub of guts.Hope it didn't cost too much to move down here.Maybe you can get some of that bounty money from your Daddy"

Then Ryan kills him and makes it look like an accident.

I like the way you think.

Can Stephen come to his rescue only to slip and rip his jugular open on the corner of the desk?
