Dez Bryant is making a strong case for the Rookie of the Year award.
The Cowboys receiver leads all rookies in scoring (seven TDs) and in punt returns (14.4-yard average). He is second among all rookies in receptions (41) and in receiving yards (539).
"I haven't really been paying attention to it, but just to be in the running makes me feel good,'' Bryant said. "You know, as long as I keep focusing on football there's a possibility of that happening.''
Detroit running back Jahvid Best, who will be in Cowboys Stadium this weekend, is in the running along with Tampa Bay receiver Mike Williams. But the favorite at this point is quarterback Sam Bradford, who has completed 60 percent of his passes for 1,925 yards and 12 touchdowns for St. Louis.
What if he and Bradford go down to the wire for the award?
"That would be nice,'' Bryant said. "He's doing an amazing job, but it's not surprising to me at all.
"Bradford is a great quarterback, he has great arm strength. I just know he will be one of the best very soon.''
One more note on Bryant. He has caught 24 passes for 359 yards and five touchdowns in the last five games. That represents more receptions, yards and touchdowns in that span than starters Miles Austin and Roy Williams have combined.
