IRVING, Texas – Jerry Jones delivered a strong message to the Valley Ranch media horde this afternoon that he fully supports Wade Phillips and does not consider the head coach/defensive coordinator’s dynamic with assistant head coach/offensive coordinator Jason Garrett to be an issue.

Here is the transcript of that portion of his impromptu press conference:

Are you comfortable with Phillips handling the roles of head coach and defensive coordinator?

“Yes. That’s really not uncommon. It may not be the majority, but it’s not uncommon for the head coach to have one side of the ball or the other. I happen to like it that way. That’s the way I wanted it. Wade has a really an outstanding track record of decisions and game-calls. It’s worked. We have a couple of division titles. I’m perfect happy with it.

“We made a mistake there that was a costly mistake. In 22 years I’ve seen what’s perceived as some of the best we’ve had make mistakes. Wade does enjoy a real good track record in game-day management.”

Phillips and Garrett both blame themselves for that play. Can you break the tie?

“I don’t look at it. It was a mistake. It’s immaterial to me. I am sensitive to our fans … that’s not an issue. We have a real good relationship and one that we’ve done successful things because of and I think will continue. As it affects our team, I don’t see it as being an issue.”

If he was real sensitive to the fans, he'd hire a real personnel guy to run the team.

This guy is the biggest lying con man I've ever come across. Fortunately for him, most of his fans are stupid enough to buy his bullshat year after year after year.

Check your calender. Its not 1994-2002 anymore.

We're one of the better run organizations in the entire league.

Thank you Jerry for letting Jeff Ireland go and promoting Tom Ciscowski. Otherwise, we might be cutting 2nd round picks after one year.

Jerry is Jerry. I can't believe people are still bitching about shit this guy does. Like, it is some "suprise". Get over it. This team is having some success and it is Jerry that is in the mix of things so that happens. This guy will whatever it takes to win. Sometimes good decisions, sometimes bad. But, he still is THE best GM in the business.

I don't like the so called "dual coaching" Dallas has. I also don't like running backs by committee..

I love the Dallas Cowboys. And that takes over everything else.

Jerry isn't the best GM in the business . . . but I don't see how people refuse to give him credit for what he's accomplished.

I mean . . . who is the best GM in the NFL?

Scott Pioli?
Ron Wolf?
Kevin Colbert?
Floyde Reese?
Ernie Acorsi?
Mickey Loomis?

Who?

No matter who you chose, only one of them has had comparable success to Jerry Jones.

Jerry haters will want to only give Jimmy success for the early 1990's dynasty, but how can you ignore the fact that Jerry HIRED Jimmy in the first place? And if it was all Jimmy . . . why did he flop in Miami?

Has there been lean years? Of course . . . 1996-2002 was about as bad as it gets for a fan. But all teams have down years. The NFL is cyclical. But even our worst years under Jerry, (minus 1989) never compared to some of the tragic ruts some teams like Detroit, Oakland, Buffalo, Cleveland, Kansas City, or St Louis have found themselves in year in and year out.

I know that the Cowboys won more Super Bowls under Jerry Jones than they had during their entire 30 year existance. And if you've read a book about those years, you'd know Jerry had a hand in all the major moves that built that dynasty.

Jerry is a smart guy. You don't become a billionaire without being intelligent. He's been the owner of this team for 20+ years. Believe it or not . . . he's a "football guy." He's learned from some of the best in the business. And the results have shown.

Look at our drafts the past several years. Look at how we've managed the cap. Look at how we've cut bait on some older vets, opting to move forward with younger pieces. We've done a hell of a job.

But . . . some people are just conditioned to dislike the guy for whatever reason. They'll blame him for "firing" Jimmy, when Jimmy simply burned out and the parting was mutual. They'll hate him for the way he terminated Tom Landry. They'll hate him for his media presence. And they'll never give him credit regardless of what he accomplishes.

You just can't take those people seriously, as they obviously lack credibility.

I will still take Jerry as an Owner over anyone else. Maybe I should of typed that. I wish Jerry would give the GM title to his son, Stephen. Maybe that will happen one day. I don't agree with everything Jerry does (Gallowaste trade, Goodrich, Parcells, T-blow signing), but, I still wouldn't take any other owner besides him.

Now, as a GM? Well, for the past few years, he hasn't been working as the GM by his lonesome.

The only owner I would rather have would be Robert Kraft. I'd take Jerry over everyone else.
