I don't think that's true. It's a small percentage but you're seeing a move towards electing people like Elizabeth Warren in congress (and getting her appointed to the banking committee) because people (mostly democrats) realize that voting against your own interests sucks. Meanwhile other people (mostly Republicans) continue to believe the lie of trickle-down economics that's been propagated for 30 years, claim there's no other way, demonize public and unionized workers all while demanding the rich get to keep as much of their money as they possibly can and electing officials who make that their primary concern.
