With Dennis Allen scratched off of the Philadelphia Eagles' list of defensive coordinator candidates, Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News provided an update on the situation. Prior to Sunday's conference championship games, a source informed Bowen that the Eagles were waiting to talk to a coach (or coaches) whose team was still alive in the playoffs. But by Monday night, there were no reports of the Eagles trying to interview assistants from the Chicago Bears or New York Jets.

By Bowen's deduction, that means that Green Bay Packers defensive line coach Mike Trgovac or linebackers coach Winston Moss or Kevin Greene could be the man in question; from the Pittsburgh Steelers, it could be linebackers coach Keith Butler (though from the Arizona Cardinals' DC rumors, we know that Butler has a clause in his contract that may prevent him from leaving) or defensive backs coach Ray Horton.

Regarding Trgovac, the former Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator has expressed an interest in staying in Green Bay, according to Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, based upon the fact that he doesn't want to move his family again.

It should also be noted that the man who ultimately ends up with the job might not be amongst the names publicly being reported right now.
