While the Cowboys made it official with Rob Ryan yesterday, the division rival Philadelphia Eagles had one of their top candidates drop out of the running.

Jim Mora Jr., the former Atlanta and Seattle head coach, opted to withdraw from opportunities with Philadelphia and Denver, despite reports he could've had his pick of either job.

Sean McDermott, the hand-picked successor to the late Jim Johnson, was fired after the season, as the Eagles ranked tied for 21st in points allowed per game, and 12th in total defense. The Cowboys, by comparison, were 31st in points and 23rd in total defense.

With Mora out, Philadelphia appears to be leaning toward former Bears, Bills and Lions head coach Dick Jauron for their opening, though he has also drawn attention from the Browns. Arizona's Bill Davis has been considered, and Saints secondary coach Dennis Allen will also interview for the job.

Earlier, the Eagles hired Tennessee defensive line coach Jim Washburn to the same position.
