The Eagles always seem to luck out in these situations, whether it's free agency or the draft.

Eagles:Jason Peters suffers ruptured Achilles tendon

Jason Peters suffers ruptured Achilles tendon
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 30, 2012, 12:47 PM EDT

The news on Eagles left tackle Jason Peters is as bad as Philly fans feared: He has suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon, will need surgery, and may miss the entire 2012 NFL season.

The Eagles have announced that Peters suffered the injury during a running session on Tuesday, March 27, in Texas, and he will have surgery on Tuesday, April 3 in Philadelphia.

Ruptured Achilles tendons are always season-ending injuries when they happen in season. It’s conceivable that Peters could be back to full strength very late in the 2012 season, but most of the time this is an injury that requires a full year of rehabilitation.

This is a huge blow to the Eagles, who have just lost their best offensive lineman.

He's not just done for the season, he's pretty much done for much of his career. He still might be able to play, but he'll---pardon the pun, will never return to his top form.

And yet there were people that wanted to bring in Laron Landry. Granted, he didn't have a ruptured Achilles, but still it'll be a matter of time. When your Achilles starts giving you problems as an athlete, you're pretty much done. It finished Shaq's career.

I should have been more precise, I guess. Yeah, his career is over with it.

Eagles LT Peters needs second surgery after fall

Any chance that Eagles left tackle Jason Peters could return this season is now gone according to Derrick Gunn of CSNPhilly. According to a league source, Peters ruptured his Achilles tendon again after the Roll-A-Bout he was using malfunctioned. Peters was maneuvering in his kitchen when the device broke, and he fell on his face and re-injured the Achilles.

The five-time Pro Bowler needed a second surgery, and his recovery was set back three weeks. He is going to sue the manufacturer of the device.

Peters initially suffered the injury March 27 while working out near his home in Texas. Shortly after the injury, the Eagles signed veteran tackle Demetress Bell.
