By Todd Archer

IRVING, Texas -- Philadelphia has failed to meet the “dream team” expectations many had for it when the season started, but the Eagles are not dead.

They will come to Cowboys Stadium on Saturday with real playoff hopes, even at 6-8.

If Philadelphia wins its last two games and the New York Giants lose to the Jets and beat the Cowboys, then the Eagles will win the NFC East.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

The Eagles punished Rex Ryan’s New York Jets on Sunday, 45-19, for their second straight win. They tore apart the Jets the way they tore apart the Cowboys and Rob Ryan’s defense on Oct. 30 at Lincoln Financial Field.

And there’s this: Andy Reid has lost only once to the Cowboys in December in seven games as Philadelphia's head coach. That came in 1999, his first year. Since then the Eagles’ six victories have been by an average margin of 17 points. Reid has a 37-15 record in December as a head coach.

Gulp.

But the calendar means nothing, as Jason Garrett has reminded us, so let's point out the fact that the Cowboys have beat the Eagles in their last two rematches. They shut out Philadelphia, 24-0, in 2009 and won at Lincoln Financial Field last season, 14-13, in January regular-season games.

If this happens.............somewhere the football gods will be holding a cowboys cloned voodoo doll and shoving a pin straight up it's arse.

Even if the Giants beat the Jets and we lose to Philly, it wouldn't change a thing, right?

Correct. It'd still come down to week 17.

But if the Jets win, and we win, then week 17 is meaningless. We could rest starters.

kind of hard to say reid has never lost to the cowboys in december when we beat him two weeks in a row in 09 in weeks 17 and then the wc round.

and going into that playoff game he was 7-0 in the wild card round. Since that night he is 0-2.

they sure fucked our seasons in 06 and 07 here in december though. We would have won the division had we beat them in 06 on xmas day but that was the first of the guess who cant cover the tight end games and we lost to jeff garcia. Then in 07 romo hit his thumb on a linemans helmet and was not the same the rest of the game and we lost and the giants used the same defensive game plan to beat us a few weeks later.

they have played great the last two weeks.

But if you evaluate them the way Dallas is evaluated you could say matt moore didnt really challenge them and he turned the ball over repeatedly with devone bess, then yesterday that jets team is just old and slow and a horrible matchup for that team. So when sanchez and holmes turn the ball over its just a cake walk for the eagles.

We can threaten them all over the field on offense and we will have to outscore them and get them in a spot where vick has to beat us. If it is a close tight game where they stay balanced we will be in trouble. If we can put points up early and not give them the ball at our 20 I think we will have a shot.

I can see our pass rush being good this week. Both laufenberg and steve dennis said the team was immediately talking about the eagles as soon as they were in the locker room and the team on the plane was having a great time. Steve dennis said that romo cranked the radio and everyone was having a good time....I guess there is really really good comraderie amongst the guys.

So I am full of hope, but we have some big slow players on defense that are just not a good matchup.

If he had an ounce of leadership skills, he'da been cranking game film.

Let me guess, his hat was on backwards too.

probably, god damn slacker.

Archer was on with babe last night and apparently sammy morris said that the perception of Tony Romo is wrong....Said he was just like brady, prepared, leading in practice and demanding.

whatever, like archer said though he told morris you cant say that stuff about romo, he is just the guy that fumbled in seattle because that is what the national media has portrayed him.

I remember telling username and superpunk this months ago. They acted as though they were completely unaware of that perception.

I don't necessarily like the fact that they were laughing and carrying on on the flight back. Just makes me a little nervous because they have a tendency to go into these "must win" games, trying to take the pressure off of themselves. Which they end up taking a bit too much off, most of the time.

Yea. But it's the same thing. They wore us out in 09 with reids records in dec-Jan that year to insist we were going to lose also.

Remember when dipshit conspiracy theorists suggested Reid threw the season ender in 09 because he knew they'd beat Dallas the next week when the game really mattered?

Vividly, I remember Trent Cole saying we stunk and all we won was a tshirt and hat and they would win the playoff game.

Fnd for what it's worth, technically we have beat them in each of the last two January
and yes I know both teams had backups last year but some of those games. In 01,02,04 were similar and no one puts an asterisk on those for Reid.

If you go back and read correctly, they didn't say Reid has never lost to us in December, they said he's only lost to us once in December since he's been the head coach there.

Its pretty easy to say that, because its a fact.

It's splitting hairs, what is implied every time this is said is that Reid and the eagles don't lose important games late in the year, the 4th qtr of the season, when in fact he has in each of the last two years.

If you want to be a douchebag about it yes, the 09 10 games were played the first Sunday of January, abut that is what people are talking about when this comes up, the 4th qtr of the season, the home stretch. Whether it's December 28 or January 3 makes no difference it's the same thing.

Only a douche would act like there is a difference.

He was insinuating that they always beat us in the late season games, which tend to mean more.

He wasn't insinuating that at all.. he was talking about records in the month of December. He even brought up at the end of the article the recent success against the Eagles in the last two seasons of January regular season games. Did you guys miss that part?
