Eagles, Cowboys remember Rob Ryan's comments

IRVING -- Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan speaks with reporters on Fridays. But on Wednesday afternoon, Ryan was a topic of discussion for the Cowboys and Eagles.
As a quick reminder, Ryan during training camp referred to the Eagles as "the all-hype team."

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was reminded of those comments during a conference call with Dallas-area reporters Wednesday.
"We know it's a competitive game," Vick said. "Sometimes people say things that they regret days, weeks or months later. I think from a competitive standpoint, he was just talking. It was nothing that we really paid any attention to because we know what really counts is when you step onto the football field and whoever wins or loses the game. That's what matters."
That's a softer tone in comparision to what Vick said about Ryan back on August 5.
"I felt that was inappropriate, but he is going to have to deal with us and he's going to have to find solutions just like everyone else," Vick said on Philadelphia's WPEN-FM. "We don't talk. We go about our business the right way. Maybe we'll make him eat his words. I hope he [can] back it up."
Vick also said he was "so upset, I indirectly tweeted to the world: People who talk the talk need to walk the walk."
The Cowboys will have have to do that for Ryan on Sunday night when the teams meet at Lincolin Financial Field. Inside linebacker Bradie James told Ryan on Wednesday his team had his back regarding any comments he made back in August.
"I talked to Rob today," James said after Wednesday's practice. " ' Look Rob, we got your back. We got to go ball. I know you’re going to be up all night long.' He put it out there and we got to go play."
When asked what Ryan's response was, James provided a clean version: "Yeah, shoot yeah. You know I'm up drinking Red Bulls all night."
The Cowboys are just getting used to Ryan making boastful statements. Coach Jason Garrett, who is guarded with most of his comments, didn't mind the statements from Ryan because he knows the defensive coordinator is going to put his players in the best position to be successful.
And Ryan has delivered on his promise of making the Cowboys relevant again. And the "all-hype" Eagles? They own a 2-4 mark.
The Cowboys have the top-ranked run defense in the NFL and are seventh overall and tied for first in fourth-down efficiency.
When Ryan made his comments, it was on the back end of a fury of moves by both teams. The Eagles signed free agents Nnamdi Asomugha, Cullen Jenkins, Jason Babin, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Vince Young.
The Cowboys signed Kenyon Coleman and Abram Elam in addition to re-signing their own free agents in Doug Free, Kyle Kosier, Marcus Spears, Gerald Sensabugh and Jason Hatcher.
In the middle of the signings, the Eagles and Cowboys tried to sign Asomugha. There was the scene where Ryan, who coached Asomugha in Oakland, was talking on the phone with Asomugha during a practice. Terence Newman, who most likely would have been replaced if the Cowboys signed Asomugha, was at practice nearby.
James didn't forget that day in August where the deal for Asomugha fell apart.
"Of course, I remember. Of course," James said. "[The Eagles] remember the big thing with Nnamdi Asomugha and all that stuff.
"It was a big fiasco but here we are and now it's time to go play some ball now in a couple of days."
