Lee could return Sunday against the Bills
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is confident Sean Lee will be back on the field Sunday against the Bills. The Cowboys’ leading tackler sat out the game against the Seahawks with a dislocated left wrist.
“He’s got to have the swelling down, but that’s getting right,” Jones said. “Then, he’s got to be comfortable himself. But I think that can happen. I’m planning on that happening, and we’re planning on that happening.”
Jones said Lee not only has a dislocation but a slight fracture and some ligament damage. Lee was wearing a black, lightweight brace on his wrist Sunday. Knowing he wouldn't play, Lee worked out before the game.
“It’s getting better, so I’m excited about this week coming up,” Lee said. “It’s more about the strength. I can be out there, but if I can’t use it, there’s no point. It’s still very weak, and that’s the biggest issue.”
Lee injured his wrist on a hit on Michael Vick last week. He had hoped to try to play Sunday with a cast, but team doctors decided Saturday that the wrist had not sufficiently healed.
Lee hopes Jones is right, and he can return against the Bills.
“We’re monitoring it to see how it’s healing, and everything has been real good so far,” Lee said. “We’re going to check some stuff over the next week, and if it’s good, we’re going to look to maybe up it and see what I can do.”
Lee entered the game as the team’s leading tackler with 73. Keith Brooking had five tackles and Bradie James four in Lee’s absence. Rookie Bruce Carter played in the nickel package, getting his first defensive snaps, and made one pass breakup.
