everybody here wants to do a couple of things

1) improve the trenches
2) improve the pass rush
3) draft a NT - either find a successor for Rat or move rat to DE

why not take Poe at 14 if hes there? people say the production isnt there, but the production really doesnt need to be there..we need a monster in the middle, essentially a guy who can just clog the middle...

is there any question that ratliff, at least for the next couple years, will make out as a better 5tech than anyone else we could draft? i think Poe is a natural fit as a NT in a 3-4 front..Poe isnt a guy who is going to play the 3 tech in a 4-3 and dominate the line of scrimmage..thankfully, thats not what we need...while I was against Poe originally, I am starting to think he might be the absolute best player for this defense..

edit** the real key to this equation is how much will our pass rush improve with ratliff playing the 5tech..if rat can consistently win those 1-1 battles, its definitely worth it..if not, probably not

If production is relatively unimportant, why would you draft the guy in the 1st round?

Just find some fat slob later on and throw him out there.

Poe has done nothing to suggest he could do numbers 1 and 2.

i should clear up that production line..what i meant was the position he plays doesnt produce gaudy stats..Poes #s are similar to Rajis at BC..all he has to do is eat up blockers and plug the middle...he isnt playing a 3tech and dominating the LOS like Suh..

doesnt need to get there..he doesnt have to penetrate at all..he just needs to maintain his gaps and keep the defense solid up the gut..the key to all of this is Ratliff..if ratliff can dominate at a 5tech, Poe will have the biggest impact on this defense..specifically because it opens up ratliff..if ratliff is over the hill and cant dominate 1 on 1 battles then poe doesnt really make sense..nobody else at 14 is going to generate enough pressure to make a considerable improvement to our rush

What we need is more activity. Our best blitzes is our 5'8" nickel corner. Our De's are stuck in molasses and rat is wearing down.
