The closer the draft gets the more im starting to love the idea of Poe in Dallas. Everybody wants to talk about the secondary but it doesnt matter whos back there. If theres no pressure they will be beat. Nobody can cover forever. In the 3-4 sets id love to see Ratliff/Poe/Lissemore. Poe is Wolfork and Ngata huge. And at the combine he's showed that hes no slouch.

Ratliff can do the job at NT for Dallas for the first half of the season, but disappears in the 2nd half why? Because he just doesnt have to size to keep up with the pounding the guy takes. Poe could collapse the middle requiring double teams and free up some blitz movement. Not to mention holding his ground against the run. Thats ratliffs weakness. When a team is dedicated to the run theres big holes up the middle consistently. Lissemore is just a guy who is going to get better the more hes on the field. Never stops thats what this team needs.

You plug a big guy like Poe in the middle the defense will get better.

The only problem with Poe.

He hasn't produce.

Played a weak conference and did very little.

Not a fan of him at all. Too boom or bust.

I'd take him and be happy with it. He offers a lot of versatility along the line.

He's pretty much my first choice if we do go Dline there.

My first choice at 14 is obviously DeCastro, but if we go DL I'll take Poe or Fletcher Cox.

Everybody wants to talk about the defense, but it doesn't matter who you have on defense, if the offense continues to fail to sustain drives, convert on 3rd and shorts, fail to score TDs in the red zone and rely upon FGs. How many times the defense made stops and force the opposing offense to punt, then only three plays later before they even got their helmets off, they are back on the field again? Eventually every defense is going to get worn down doing that, especially late in the game.

Maybe.... for a little bit. But will the offense get better?

See, if you plug in guys like Nicks and DeCastro at the interior, then the offense will get better, and as a result, the defense will get better---because the defense will not be on the field as much, and they might be able to pin their ears back.

Umm we were 8th in time of possession and have been in or around the top 10 in t.o.p. Every year romo has been here.

So you know theres that.

Maybe. But we still go three and out late in the fourth when we have a chance to close games out.

Every. Single. Time.

Umm. Time of posession is what it is.

If you want to say we dont score enough (not true either) that is one thing,

But we are always up there with t.o.p. And we are excellent between the 20s at moving the chains, we have had red zone issues.....

But holding onto the ball is not a problem here.

The defense is bad because it is filled with players who don't make plays in the backend. We never get turnovers. Good teams get turnovers giving there offense more possessions in a game....we don't do that....it's basically laz's argument backwards that is true...

My point still stands.

Upgrading the interior of the line addresses that.

Winning TOP is meaningless if you're still losing games and/or cant close games out.

DT D. Poe does not play like an elite talent on film often enough & reminds me of former 1st Rd Picks Ryan Sims & Jimmy Kennedy.

After finishing film evaluation of Memphis Dontari Poe it seems clear to me that he is much more of a big 3 tech DT than a true NT.

Poe probably would fit best as a 5 tech DE in a 34 like San Diego or Pittsburgh plays, not in KC's 34 scheme as well though.

so we need to be number 1 in T.O.P. and score the most points in order to have a competent defense.

got it.

No, we need to be able to wear defenses down, so late in the fourth when the game is on the line, we can close out games and not go three and out.

You prop that TOP stat.

Just wake me when we're not blowing 12 point leads with 5 minutes of game time remaining.

Yes he is a good player with uncanny agility/speed for a guy his size but the hype machine is spiraling out of control after the combine with this guy.

There should be enough game film of him to get a true measure of his worth and not solely base it on what he looks like and how he performs in Underarmour spandex.

Can't embed that one.

I took that video and cut out all the useless time. Here's the same video but about 10 minutes shorter.

No sound but fuck it.

Play #3 is my favorite.

He basically gets stone-walled by a small RB.
