Jones on Scandrick contract extension: 'I wouldn't revisit that at all'
by Rainer Sabin / Reporter
INDIANAPOLIS -- When the Cowboys signed cornerback Orlando Scandrick to a five-year contract extension worth $27 million, they were hedging their bets that his output would exceed their investment.
But Scandrick, who made one interception, rarely distinguished himself and was burned 37 times, yielding receptions on 68.5 percent of the passes thrown in his vicinity.
Despite the unimpressive returns, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed no regret over a deal that others contend was negotiated prematurely.
"I am glad to have him and have that contract," Jones said. "Wouldn't dare go back there and try to do better with a different player or different money. I think that much of him. He's important to us for a future. He's a good player, smart player. We just have to play him right. I wouldn't revisit that at all."
