Cut more than a week ago by the Raiders, cornerback Stanford Routt has yet to select his next team.
A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that a decision is coming soon.
Since Monday, he has visited the Bills, Chiefs, and Bengals. Other teams reportedly were interested.
The release came a day before Routt’s presence on the Raiders’ roster would have made his $5 million base salary for 2012 fully guaranteed. He left Oakland with $10 million in his pocket from 2011 and a $5 million guaranteed roster bonus in 2012.
The news that Routt will soon pick a team comes amid chatter that he’s having trouble generating real interest in his services.
Apparently, at least one team has legitimate interest; if not, there would be no selection for Routt to make.
