Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant would love to play with Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.
"If that could happen I would love it," Bryant told TMZ.com Sunday night after leaving The Palm in Bev Hills. "We are both from East Texas. We believe in the same thing. Just as much as he love the game, I love the game the same way. It would be very special."
But Bryant doesn't think it will happen.
"The Vikings not lettin' that happen, 'cause if they did, the league would know what would happen," Bryant said. "That man is a monster."
Many Cowboys fans were hoping their team would acquire Peterson in a trade during the draft.
But Peterson, who has voiced interest in playing with Dallas, is still a Viking under contract.
Peterson said last month, "it would be nice" to come to Dallas. "I've got family here, my dad's here. But I'm under contract, so we'll see," he told WFAA-TV.
Peterson grew up in Palestine, Texas, about two hours southeast of Dallas. He played in college for the Oklahoma Sooners. He was recently reinstated by the NFL from his suspension for the child abuse case he was involved in.
The Cowboys would likely have to trade a first-round pick (or multiple picks) to have a chance at Peterson.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones knows how much it hurts to trade away a first-round draft pick and sit twiddling your thumbs when all the teams get to pick before you.
Particularly when that decision blows up in your face (See Joey Galloway).
But his team is in a good position to do it again if he wanted to -- especially if he wants to win now.
Said Jones of trading the 2016 first-round pick: "I'd be reluctant to, but certainly if the right situation came along that could improve us now with where we are with Romo in his career and where we are with what we put together. It's a good time to go for it."
Bryant also said of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Deflategate: "Let bygones be bygones. It really don't matter. Those boys won fair and square I don't think it made a difference."
