Dez Bryant spoke to the media for the first time since he pumped nearly $55,000 into the local economy taking his teammates out to dinner.

"It was all in fun,'' Bryant said.

One of the Cowboys traditions _ that sounds much better than hazing _ is that rookies on each side of the ball are expected to take the veterans out for a meal. A very nice meal. The highest draft picks on offense and defense get stuck with the majority of the bill but the other rookies are expected to contribute.

Bryant, Sam Young, Chris Gronkowski and Phil Costa treated the offense to an evening that came to $54,896 at a local steakhouse last week.

Does Bryant feel that the Cowboys took advantage of him with the lavish dinner?

"No,'' he said. "It's like trying to fit in, basically. I felt like it's one of the things you have to do to be a part of the team.

"It is no big deal. Everybody is having fun. That's the great thing about it.''
